Tango brava – Pantone colours of the year

One of my favourite things,  the Pantone colours of the year. The nominated colour of 2012 was apparently Tangerine Tango, which makes sense to me as I have been wearing Mac’s Morange lipstick a lot recently and Essie Peach Daiquiri nail varnish, as well as a lot of orange clothing. It’s been having a moment.

The colour of 2013 will be Emerald. I am similarly pleased because I already have a Whistles dress in just that shade of cool green, insisted upon by A, who always knows best. I haven’t yet brought Morange and the Dylan dress together, but maybe it’s time.

Pyjama Suit

Whistles is touting the ‘pyjama suit’ as the ‘ new evening option for spring’. And with this seductive Wisteria Print silk top and trousers, I find it difficult to disagree with them. This is the sort of outfit where you’d be tempted to buy one or other of the halves but it just wouldn’t have anywhere near the same impact as the whole, and you’d constantly be disappointed in yourself for not having been that little bit braver. I only wish the model looked a bit happier -maybe there are matching socks as well and she is annoyed at not having bought the whole caboodle. Ah, life.

P.S. I’m always being told off by eagle eyed readers for not putting the prices up – Top £85, Trousers £125.

Advent Calendar: 6

What a miserable day it has suddenly become; the sunny morning held some promise but the afternoon was bitingly cold. I would like this bobble jumper from Whistles to keep out the wind. The buttons on the back are a pleasing detail.

Spendthrift

Last night my Mum told me, in quite a sweet way, that I am, and have always been, a spendthrift. As with normal mother-daughter relations, I disputed this whilst really knowing that she was right, of course. Inwardly, I told myself to be more thrifty (a friend once told me she thought spendthrift meant that she was good with money, i.e. thrifty).

But then I went online, browsed some brilliant blogs with a dash of Outnet thrown in and poof, like Cinderella’s pumpkin carriage, my resolution disappeared into thin air. I didn’t buy anything, so I suppose I stuck to my resolve, but I knew I wanted to and as with emotional betrayal, if I’d had had the money then I wouldn’t have it any longer.

I think this embodies the true definition of spendthrifts – we don’t always have the money because we spend it as soon as we can on something that fits into that moment. The moment can be created by me, just thinking about a particular item for a while, or by the environment (excellent sales assistant).

So, in the true spirit of the spendthrift, here’s a few items I’d just love to buy. In no particular order.
