I went, I waited and I made it home totally exhausted 5 hours later. We got there at 9.30 and we were told that the queue was averaging at 3/4 hours waiting time. I had dragged myself to North Wembley at a ridicuous time so I wasn’t to be put off so easily and we whiled away 2.5 hours in the queue eating biscuits and stamping our feet in an attempt to keep warm.
Here is a video of Speedy who was stood on the kerb with 5 bags when I approached him. These boots were his fave find.
We made it in at midday and there were thousands of people in there. It was total madness. By that time there was a lot of dross left and my friends & I walked away with a lot of junk. I have one new navy peacoat with gold military buttons – it needs a little work but it made the trip worthwhile just. And I raided the books section (more on that to follow). And I met some nice people, some in the queue, some that I had to apologise to after stepping on them in my haste to scrounge around boxes.
I am glad that I went but hot tip: always arrive a few hours before these things are due to start. If you’ve heard about it then so has everyone else. Fun but I doubt I’ll be repeating it in a hurry! A
